WHAT WE DO

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission aka "Commission" supports and promotes competitive bidding and contracting. Business and Supplier Diversity serves to bridge contracting opportunities to the disadvantaged, small, minority, women and veteran owned businesses through community partnerships, outreach, education and compliance. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is the designated authority that acts on behalf of the Commission for the Business and Supplier Diversity Program and has oversight on assuring fair and equitable compliance of Commission contracts and bids.

OUR POLICY

The Business and Supplier Diversity policy establishes commitment by the Commission to alleviate practices that may result in discrimination and/or adverse impact on historically underutilized, disadvantaged, minority, veteran or women businesses enterprises in access to contracting and bidding opportunities. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is the designated authority that acts on behalf of the Commission for the Business and Supplier Diversity Program and has oversight on assuring fair and equitable compliance of Commission contracts and bids.

COMMITMENT TO THE DIVERSE BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Business and Supplier Diversity is achieved through this Commission's commitment to transparency, outreach and education in the contracting process. The Commission is committed to Diverse Business (DB) participation on competitive contracting opportunities. A Diverse Business is defined as a disadvantaged business, minority-owned or women-owned business or service-disabled veteran-owned or veteran-owned small business that has been certified by a third-party certifying organization. The Commission recognizes the following third-party certifying organization is an organizations: (1) the National Minority Supplier Development Council; (2) the Women’s Business Development Enterprise National Council; (3) the Small Business Administration; (4) The Department of Veteran Affairs; (5) the Pennsylvania Unified Certification Program.

PROCUREMENT

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission procures goods and services through the following three departments, Strategic Sourcing and Asset Management, Contracts Administration and the Engineering and Construction Department.
