Beaver Valley Interchange Work Update
Closure now needed throughout the weekends as project scope expands.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike is alerting motorists that the closure of the Beaver Valley Interchange, Exit #13, in Beaver County will now also be in effect during the weekends through Oct. 9.

As the project began, the scope of the work needed to change. When reconstruction of the shoulders started, crews needed to remove the guiderail. Having no guiderail during construction is a safety issue for motorists, so the interchange will be closed for the entire three-week period.

Also, plans to patch the roadway at the interchange now switched to mill and pave work. The surface will be stripped down to the base and repaved. By working over the weekends, the project can stay on track to finish Oct. 9 and Beaver Valley Interchange can reopen Oct. 10.

The detours will remain in effect throughout the three-week construction period. All motorists traveling the Turnpike and wanting to exit at Beaver Valley Interchange will be diverted to New Castle Interchange, Exit 10, where a detour will be in place leading them to State Route 18.

Traffic wanting to enter the Turnpike at Beaver Valley Interchange will be detoured to New Castle Interchange using State Route 18 and State Route 351.

Detour signs will be posted for all Turnpike traffic and local traffic during the closure.

For short periods of time State Route 18 between Fairlane Boulevard and Wallace Run Road will be restricted to a single lane in each direction while work at the ramps take place.
