PA Turnpike is Now Open in Cumberland County
Bridge replacement project completed two hours ahead of schedule.

 

HARRISBURG, PA (Sept. 30, 2019) — The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announced that Interstate-76 (I-76) in Cumberland County has reopened for westbound traffic between the Harrisburg West Interchange, Exit 242, and the Gettysburg Pike Interchange, Exit 236, after completion of the second phase of the replacement of the bridge carrying the Turnpike over the Norfolk Southern Railway at milepost 238.09 in Lower Allen Township.

Crews worked diligently over the course of the weekend to reopen this section of the roadway by 4 a.m. -- two hours ahead of schedule. Every construction task involved in the process was accomplished smoothly.
