Possible Delays on PA Turnpike between Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley Interchanges
Overnight traffic paces being conducted Sept. 25 to prepare for bridge work.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that they may experience delays while traveling between the Pittsburgh, Exit #57 and Allegheny Valley, Exit #48, interchanges beginning at 9 p.m. on Sept. 25 until 5 a.m. on Sept. 26. Traffic paces will be conducted to allow crews time to place utility lines over the Turnpike near milepost 53.

During the paces, state police and maintenance vehicles will restrict Turnpike traffic to a speed of 20-25 miles-an-hour in both directions allowing the contractor a window of time to secure utility poles near the Saltsburg Road Bridge located at milepost 53.6.

Motorists in the area should be prepared for slow-moving or stopped traffic. The Turnpike conducts pacing maneuvers in certain construction situations as an alternative to full roadway closures and detours.  Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and other circumstances.

This work is a part of an early-action bridge project that will replace Saltsburg Road Bridge prior to the future Total Reconstruction and Widening of the Turnpike being planned between mileposts 53 and 57. For more information on this project visit  https://www.patpconstruction.com/mp53to57/.
