Restrictions at Butler Valley Interchange Planned June 14-17

Entrance ramp to the Turnpike will be closed for repairs.

 

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is alerting motorists of a weekend-long closure at the Butler Valley Interchange, Exit #39, in Allegheny County.  Motorists will not be able to enter the Turnpike from State Route 8 at the Butler Valley Interchange beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 14 through 5 a.m. on Monday, June 17.

Drivers on the Turnpike will still be able to exit at Butler Valley Interchange.

The closure is needed for crews to repair the ramps to the interchange. Motorists wanting to enter the Turnpike will be detoured to different interchanges while the closure is in effect. 

Recommended detours are as follows:

EASTBOUND TRAFFIC trying to enter at Butler Valley Interchange will follow this detour:

State Route 8 north to State Route 910 east and left onto Freeport Road to enter the Turnpike at Allegheny Valley Interchange, Exit 48. Follow signs to Harrisburg and East.

WESTBOUND TRAFFIC trying to enter at Butler Valley Interchange will follow this detour:

State Route 8 north to State Route 228 west to I-79 south to enter the Turnpike at the Cranberry Interchange, Exit 28. Follow signs to Ohio and West.

Detour signs will be posted along the recommended routes. Drivers should expect higher traffic volumes on detour roads during this closure. Message boards will also be in place to inform customers.
