State Route 50 Restrictions Planned in Allegheny and Washington Counties

After Memorial Day, traffic restrictions will be in place for motorists traveling State Route 50 in Allegheny and Washington counties beginning May 28.

For approximately one month, both eastbound and westbound lanes of State Route 50 will be closed overnight between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. between the intersection of Millers Run Road (State Route 978) and Cecil-Henderson Road (State Route 1010). A posted detour will take traffic onto I-79 between the Bridgeville and Canonsburg exits.

During daylight hours, eastbound traffic will be restricted to one lane on State Route 50. Eastbound motorists will use the right lane, which will be shifted onto the outside shoulder. This lane closure will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

This traffic impact is needed for crews to safely erect steel beams and work on the bridge that will carry Toll 576 traffic over State Route 50, which is part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s Southern Beltway Project between U.S. Route 22 and I-79 (Construction Section 55C1-1).
