PA Turnpike Advises Motorists of Possible Delays on the Mon Fayette Expressway
Four days of traffic restrictions planned beginning April 24.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists using the Mon Fayette Expressway, Turnpike 43, of possible delays due to nightly, intermittent traffic paces occurring from April 24 through April 27 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. in Washington County. Eight, 20-minute paces will take place throughout each night.

On April 24 and April 26 the paces will affect northbound traffic approaching milepost 35 and continuing to the work zone at milepost 33. The paces will affect southbound traffic on April 25 and April 27 approaching milepost 36 and continuing to the work zone at milepost 32. Motorists will encounter a single-lane pattern in this area during daylight hours.

During the 20-minute paces, a state police vehicle will restrict Turnpike 43 traffic to a speed of 20-25 miles an hour allowing the contractor a window of time to dismantle old overhead sign structures and install new overhead, monotube sign structures, which comply with current industry standards.

Motorists in the area should be prepared for slow-moving traffic and possible stoppages. The Turnpike conducts pacing maneuvers in certain construction situations as an alternative to full roadway closures and detours.  Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and other circumstances.
