Construction on I-276 Bridge over PA Turnpike Scheduled to Start in April
Hulmeville Road Bridge replacement will restrict sections of State Route 513 in Bensalem Township.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that a section of State Route 513 in Bensalem Township, Bucks County, will be restricted for crews to replace an overhead bridge, which carries Hulmeville Road over the Turnpike at milepost 353.96.

Construction will begin in April to replace the bridge, located approximately three miles east of the Bensalem Interchange, Exit 351. It will include a longer structure to accommodate a new, highway-speed link to I-95 that is being built in stages east of the overhead structure. During the first stage, contractors will begin paving, setting up temporary barriers and installing and removing pavement markings so that thru-traffic on Hulmeville Road can be maintained.

Beginning April 1, all southbound vehicles on Hulmeville Road will be restricted from turning left onto Gibson Road.  Large vehicles will be restricted from making right turns from Gibson Road onto northbound Hulmeville Road.  The detour for all restrictions is a 3.6 mile route which will direct traffic to use Hulmeville Road, Bensalem Boulevard, and Gibson Road.

Message boards have been activated to alert motorists of the scheduled road closure and detour routes have been posted to navigate around work areas. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.

Allan Myers, Inc., of Worcester, Pa., was awarded the $6.6 million contract in January 2017 to replace the 64 year-old bridge.  The project is scheduled to be completed in August 2018.  For more information on this project please visit www.patpconstruction.com/paturnpikei95/s5.aspx.
