PA Turnpike Commission Congratulates Bradley Heigel on Being Selected

                                        “Engineer of the Year” 

PTC Chief Engineer, York County resident has supervised public-sector projects for 28 years   

 

HARRISBURG, PA (Feb. 24, 2017) —The PA Turnpike Commission’s (PTC) Chief Engineer Bradley Heigel has been selected by the Central Pennsylvania’s Engineer Week Council (CPEW) as the “2017 Engineer of the Year.” Heigel, a 1988-graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, is a board member of the American Society of Highway Engineers.

The award honors an engineer who has done much throughout his career to promote the profession as well as to contribute to the community in which they live.

“Brad has had a major impact on our capital improvement planning,” said PTC CEO Mark Compton. “Additionally, he serves as a key advisor to senior management as well as a mentor to other engineers. His professional dedication is certainly deserving of recognition.”

“I am honored to be selected from among such an esteemed group,” Heigel said. “I am also very proud to be a part of a group dedicated to innovation and excellence in engineering.”

Heigel is currently responsible for the PTC’s Engineering (design and construction) and Facilities and Energy Management Operations (FEMO). This includes rebuilding and widening the PA Turnpike, a 550-mile system that is in part, more than 75 years old. 

Heigel, who lives in Lewisberry with wife Nancy, has also served as chairman of the Upper Allen Parks and Recreation Committee, and coach for Boys Junior Varsity Basketball at Mechanicsburg High School. He joins PTC engineer Timothy Scanlon who was the CPEW 2014 award recipient.

The Central Pennsylvania Engineering Week Council, launched in 2000, recognizes engineers who exemplify standards of excellence, professionalism and humanitarianism.
