Open House for Allegheny County Widening Project Slated for Feb. 23
Residents can view project plans for the total reconstruction and widening of the PA Turnpike

 

New Stanton, PA (Feb.21, 2017) -- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) will hold an Open House Plans Display to enable the public to review four early action projects for the total reconstruction and widening of the Pennsylvania Turnpike between mileposts 49 and 56, which is between the Allegheny Valley and Pittsburgh interchanges in Allegheny County. 

The Open House Plans Display is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m., Feb. 23, Plum High School Cafeteria, 900 Elicker Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15239.  Attendees should park at the second parking lot entrance which is adjacent to the cafeteria.

Those attending will have the opportunity to review the project plans, detour routes, as well as maps showing impacts to property owners.  PTC Project team members will be available to answer questions and provide information about the right-of-way acquisition process. Additional project details will be available at the meeting.

The early action projects are located within the limits of the municipalities of Monroeville and Plum Borough. These projects will occur prior to the total reconstruction between mileposts 49 and 56, which is currently in the preliminary design phase. 

The four planned early action projects are:

  • Lowering of Hulton Road in Plum Borough

  • Overhead bridge replacement at Unity Trestle Road in Plum Borough

  • Overhead bridge replacement at Saltsburg Road (State Route 380) in Plum Borough

  • Overhead bridge replacement at Center Road in the Municipality of Monroeville

These projects are expected to be under construction at various times between 2018 and 2021.
