       Pa. Turnpike Plans Public Open House Nov. 16
Preliminary design plans on display for the total reconstruction
between Cranberry Interchange and Warrendale Toll Plaza.

PITTSBURGH, PA. (November 9, 2016) — The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) will hold a

Public Open House Plans Display to discuss the $76 million total reconstruction project between

Cranberry Interchange (Milepost 28) in Butler County and the Warrendale Toll Plaza (Milepost 31) in

Allegheny County.

The open house is scheduled Nov. 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Marshall

Middle School, 5145 Wexford Run Road, Wexford PA 15090. Meeting attendees are encouraged

to park in the rear parking lot (across from Marshall Elementary School) and enter through the doors

by the gymnasium.

Those attending will have the opportunity to review the project area maps, the anticipated

construction schedule, impacts to local roads including detours, right-of-way information, traffic noise

analysis, sound barrier locations and storm-water management plans. Representatives from the PTC

and members of the project team will be on hand to provide additional information and answer

questions.

The project, located in Cranberry and Marshall Townships, involves the widening of the existing

roadway from four lanes with a 10-foot median to six lanes with a 26-foot median. Three mainline

bridges will be replaced that carry the Turnpike over SR 19 (Perry Highway), T-478 (Mt. Pleasant

Road), and a waterway. The extension of a culvert, the construction of new stormwater facilities, plus

construction of a new sound wall and a retaining wall is also proposed. The reconstruction of the

mainline Turnpike is anticipated to begin in 2019 and be completed in 2021.

This project is part of the Turnpike’s $2.5 billion total reconstruction program that began in 1999 and

is funded entirely by toll revenue. More than 115 miles of roadway have been reconstructed thus far.

This will bring the entire system up to today’s interstate safety standards resulting in a smoother and

safer road with fewer traffic delays and disruptions.
