Tractor Trailer Accident Eastbound on PA Turnpike in Cumberland County Slowing Traffic Turnpike recommends passenger vehicles use detours to avoid accident.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is advising motorists of a single-vehicle accident eastbound on I-76 at milepost 225 nearing the Carlisle Interchange, Exit 226, North Middleton Township, Cumberland County.  A tractor trailer struck the guiderail in a construction zone.

Maintenance and emergency crews are at the scene. No life-threatening injuries are being reported. The trapped backlog of traffic is getting through one lane approaching the Carlisle Interchange.

Motorists should expect heavy delays while traveling in this area. The Turnpike recommends passenger vehicles and motorcycles exit at the Willow Hill Interchange, Exit 189, or the Blue Mountain Interchange, Exit 201, and seek alternate routes to reenter the Turnpike.  Motorcycle riders should use caution and be alert for pavement variations when passing the incident scene.
