Pa. Turnpike Plans Eastbound Closure Between Willow Grove, Bensalem Interchanges Tonight

Closure needed to recover overturned tractor trailer at Bensalem Interchange.

The Pa. Turnpike Commission advises motorists that the Turnpike (Interstate 276) will be closed eastbound tonight from Willow Grove Interchange, Exit #343, to Bensalem Interchange, Exit #351, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. so crews can recover an overturned tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer overturned on the eastbound off-ramp at Bensalem Interchange about 3:30 p.m., and crews pushed the vehicle onto the shoulder away from exiting traffic. Turnpike officials decided to wait until after rush hour to remove the truck, which was hauling trash. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During the closure, motorists exiting at Willow Grove will be given directional cards with a suggested detour route to reenter the Turnpike at Bensalem Interchange. The detour will be in effect until the wreckage is cleared from the area.

Motorists should expect delays while traveling in this area.
