Pennsylvania Turnpike To Close Between Butler Valley and Allegheny Valley Interchanges
Six-hour, overnight closure planned May 15 for bridge beam erection.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission alerts motorists of a six-hour, eastbound closure on May 15 between the Butler Valley Interchange, Exit #39, and Allegheny Valley Interchange, Exit #48, from midnight to 6 a.m.

The eastbound closure is necessary to allow crews to safely erect bridge beams for the replacement of the overhead bridge that carries Gibsonia Road (State Route 0910) over the Turnpike at milepost 43.6.  This work is part of the total reconstruction of the Turnpike from milepost 40 to 48.  For more information on this project please visit http://www.mp40-48construction.com

Drivers traveling eastbound will need to exit the Butler Valley Interchange and should use the following detour:

EASTBOUND TRAFFIC Exiting at Butler Valley Interchange

Follow State Route 8 south (10 miles)

Left ramp to State Route 28 north (7.5 miles)

Exit 11 to State Route 910 east (0.2 miles)

Left onto Freeport Road (0.7 miles)

Reenter the Turnpike at Allegheny Valley Interchange

Alternate-route cards will be available to exiting travelers at the Butler Valley Interchange during the closure. Expect higher traffic volumes on detour roads during this time.
