Pa. Turnpike Advises Motorists of Traffic Delays Westbound Near Breezewood Interchange

Single-lane restriction near milepost 156 for guiderail repair causing delays.

The Pa. Turnpike Commission advises motorists that traffic delays are occurring westbound near Breezewood Interchange (Exit #161) due to crews removing debris and repairing the guiderail where a tractor trailer was pulled from an embankment at milepost 156.

While the Pa. Turnpike remains open, traffic in the Breezewood area is backing up due to a right lane closure to protect workers while they make repairs and clean the roadway of debris. Delays are expected off and on throughout the evening. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area if possible and find an alternate route.

Expect higher traffic volumes in this area until crews are able to finish the work. Message boards will be activated to inform customers of the delays, and Highway Advisory Radio broadcasts at station 1640 AM also are being used to inform travelers.

Travelers can get Turnpike traffic alerts by calling 866-976-TRIP (8747) or visiting the live Travel Conditions Map online at www.paturnpike.com/webmap. The Pa. Turnpike’s smartphone app, TRIP Talk, will stream audio traffic advisories to iPhone and Droid users. To download the free app, visit www.paturnpike.com/triptalk.
