Pa. Turnpike to Close Dec. 20 Between Bensalem and Delaware Valley Interchanges

Three-hour, overnight closure for westbound traffic needed for erection of signs.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that a seven-mile stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276) will be closed westbound for three hours starting at 1 a.m. on Dec. 20 between Bensalem (Exit #351) and Delaware Valley (Exit #358). The Pennsylvania Turnpike will reopen to westbound traffic at 4 a.m.

The closure is needed for the protection of motorists and workers while a sign structure and sign panels are erected on the Turnpike near Trevose in Bucks County.

Prior to the detour, the contractor will close the right westbound lane and the left eastbound lane between mileposts 351 and 354. The single-lane restrictions will be lifted at approximately 5 a.m. once all work is complete.

Pennsylvania State Police and Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the Delaware Valley Interchange to assist drivers. Motorists can tune to radio 1640 AM for detour information and traffic conditions or call the Turnpike Roadway Information line at 866.976.8747. Changeable message signs will also provide updated information regarding closures and detours. All turnpike travelers are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly.

DETOUR:

• Traveling westbound on I-276 – All traffic must exit at Delaware Valley Interchange. Take U.S. Route 13 south to State Route 132 west to U.S. Route 1 north and reenter the Turnpike at the Bensalem Interchange to continue westbound on I-276.

The Turnpike urges motorists to stay alert and travel at posted speed limits through work zones. Speed limits will be enforced and fines increased.
