Pa. Turnpike Announces Opening of Saxonburg Blvd. Bridge in Indiana Twp., Allegheny County
Bridge set to open by afternoon rush hour on Nov. 25.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) announces that the Saxonburg Blvd. Bridge in Indiana Twp., Allegheny County will reopen to traffic by 5 p.m. on Nov. 25.

The bridge carrying Saxonburg Blvd. over the Turnpike at milepost 43.13 has been closed since March 30. Trumbull Corp. of Pittsburgh replaced the bridge with a three-span, concrete box beam bridge.

The bridge replacement is part of an early-action project needed to accommodate the total reconstruction of the Turnpike from milepost 40 to 48. To date, five bridges (Middle Road, two Gibsonia Road bridges, Rich Hill Road and Saxonburg Blvd.) have been replaced and opened to traffic since work began in early 2013. Over the next three years, one additional bridge in the area will be replaced while the mainline is reconstructed and widened between the Butler Valley Interchange (Exit #39) and Allegheny Valley Interchange (Exit #48).  For more information on this project please visit http://www.mp40-48construction.com.
