Pa. Turnpike Bridge Work Scheduled in Somerset County
Nighttime work to affect traffic on State Route 601.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that crews will be working on the bridge that carries Turnpike traffic over State Route 601 (North Center Avenue) in Somerset County beginning Nov. 2.

The work will be conducted between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and is expected to be completed in one week depending on weather. The project consists of concrete repairs on the back walls across the full length of the roadway.

At times traffic will be reduced to a single lane on the mainline of the Turnpike near the Somerset Interchange (Exit #110) while flaggers will be located at the entrances and exits of local businesses on State Route 601 to keep traffic moving in the area.

Message boards will be activated along the Turnpike alerting the motorists to traffic restrictions. The Pa. Turnpike’s smartphone app, TRIP Talk, streams audio traffic advisories to iPhone and Droid users so they can keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
