Traffic Restrictions Planned Between Donegal Interchange and the Allegheny Tunnel
Traffic paces needed for five days to remove bridge beams.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) advises motorists traveling between Donegal Interchange (Exit #91) and the Allegheny Tunnel, which is twelve miles east of Somerset Interchange (Exit #110), of 20-minute traffic paces scheduled Sept. 9 through Sept. 13.

The first bi-directional 20-minute pace will begin at 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 with four additional paces occurring through 5 a.m. on Sept. 10.  For eastbound traffic, the paces will start at milepost 91 while westbound traffic begins at milepost 118.

Eastbound-only paces will start at milepost 91 at 10 p.m. on Sept. 10 with four additional eastbound paces taking place through 6 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Westbound-only paces will start at milepost 118 at 8 p.m. on Sept. 12 with four additional westbound paces occurring through 5 a.m. on Sept. 13.

During the 20-minute paces, a state police vehicle will restrict eastbound and/or westbound Turnpike traffic to a speed of 20-25 mph allowing the contractor a window of time for crews to safely remove the remaining steel bridge beams from an overhead bridge at milepost 108 in Somerset Township, Somerset County. This work is an early-action project leading up to the total reconstruction project between mileposts 102 and 109. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and other circumstances.

Message boards will be place to inform motorists of the closure, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts at station 1640 AM also are being used.
