Placement of Overhead Bridge Beams to Impact Traffic on Northeastern Extension (I-476) in Luzerne County

Daytime traffic paces and stoppages are scheduled to occur June 2 between exits 115 – 122.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission cautions motorists that multiple traffic stoppages of no more than 20 minutes each are scheduled to occur on June 2 starting at 9 a.m. for motorists traveling between the Wyoming Valley (Exit #115) and Keyser Avenue (Exit #122) interchanges. Slow moving traffic paces and stoppages are necessary for the protection of motorists and workers during the construction of a new PennDOT bridge that will carry Navy Way Road over I-476 at milepost A116.20 in Pittston Township, Luzerne County.

Starting at 9 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police and Turnpike maintenance personnel will stop motorists entering the system northbound at the Wyoming Valley (Exit #115) and southbound at the Keyser Avenue (Exit #122) interchanges to begin a slow moving traffic pace (25 mph) bringing traffic to a complete stop for no more than 20 minutes. The intermittent traffic paces and stoppages will continue throughout the day until approximately 3 p.m.

Motorists traveling north from Wilkes-Barre and south from Clarks Summit may encounter slow moving or stopped traffic approaching the Wyoming Valley and Keyser Avenue exits, and are encouraged to plan accordingly. Drivers should obey posted speed limits through the construction zone. In case of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled for June 3 with times and traffic restriction still applicable.
