Emergency Work Requires Eastbound Turnpike Closure between Gettysburg Pike, Harrisburg West

Complete eastbound closure of Turnpike at 8 p.m. is needed to fix pothole in bridge deck.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that a pothole on the deck of a bridge has necessitated a temporary closure of the eastbound right lane on the Turnpike (Interstate 76) at milepost 235 – about a half-mile before the Gettysburg Pike Interchange (#236) in Cumberland County.

In order to fix the pothole — which is on the dashed line between the left and right lanes at milepost 238 — the eastbound Turnpike will close tonight at 8 p.m.; all eastbound traffic will be detoured off at the Gettysburg Pike Interchange and directed to reenter at the Harrisburg West Interchange (#242).

Because the repair involves application and curing of concrete, the eastbound closure will be in place all night, until 5 a.m. tomorrow.

Motorists should anticipate delays in the area, especially between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. when the single eastbound lane is in place.
