Installation of Overhead Sign to Impact Traffic on Pa. Turnpike Norristown Interchange

20-minute stoppages planned for motorists on I-276 on May 6

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission cautions motorists that multiple traffic stoppages of no more than 20 minutes each are scheduled on May 6 after 11 p.m. for motorists traveling eastbound and westbound on the Turnpike (I-276) between Valley Forge (Exit #326) and Ft. Washington (Exit #339). The stoppages are necessary for the protection of motorists and workers during the erection of a permanent overhead sign structure at milepost 334.7.

Slow moving traffic patterns will be implemented after 11 p.m. for eastbound traffic between Valley Forge (Exit #326) and Mid-County (Exit #20) and westbound traffic between Ft. Washington (Exit #339) and Mid-County. Traffic will be stopped in both directions for no more than 20 minutes just prior to the work area.

Motorists entering the Turnpike from Germantown Pike at the Norristown Interchange (Exit #333) and the Blue Route (I-476) northbound at Mid-County will be stopped at the ramps to eastbound I-276.

The traffic stoppages will continue throughout the night, weather permitting. Motorists should be prepared for slow moving traffic and multiple stoppages on I-276 until approximately 5 a.m. May 7.

State Police and Turnpike maintenance personnel will assist the contractor to minimize impacts to traffic traveling between Valley Forge and Ft. Washington and entering the system at Mid-County. Motorists are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly or seek an alternate route.

In case of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled for May 12-13 with times and traffic restrictions still applicable.
