Pa. Turnpike Sets New Traffic Patterns Between Donegal and Somerset Interchanges

Lane restrictions necessary for widening and reconstruction project between mileposts 99 and 102.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) alerts drivers of changing traffic patterns and lane restrictions between mileposts 99 and 102 in Somerset County.

On March 30, at 2 a.m. all lanes will be relocated to the westbound side while the eastbound lanes are being rebuilt in this three-mile stretch of the Turnpike.

The new traffic patterns will have two lanes westbound and two lanes eastbound with no shoulders throughout the project area.

Trucks and busses traveling westbound should use the left lane while eastbound truck and busses should use the right lane. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph throughout the construction zone.

The restrictions are needed to complete the milepost 99 to 102 total reconstruction project. In 2014, the westbound lanes were rebuilt and widened to three lanes. The total reconstruction of the eastbound lanes is expected to be finished in the fall of 2015.

Motorists are urged to obey posted speed limits and use extra caution when approaching construction zones. Possible delays may occur during peak travel times.
