Pa. Turnpike Announces Partial Closure of Saxonburg Blvd. in Indiana Twp., Allegheny Co.

Detour to begin March 30 for bridge work and will last eight months.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) announces that a section of Saxonburg Blvd. in Indiana Twp., Allegheny Co. will be closed starting March 30, so work can begin on the replacement of the overhead bridge carrying Saxonburg Blvd. over the Turnpike at milepost 43.13. Local traffic will be affected near the intersection of State Route 910 and Saxonburg Blvd.

The following detour will be in effect for eight months.

Traffic will be directed over Saxonburg Blvd. (State Route 1013) to Bairdford Road to Oak Road (State Route 1022) and then to State Route 910.  Approximate length of the detour is nine miles.

Trumbull Corp. of Pittsburgh, PA will be replacing the existing bridge that carries Saxonburg Blvd. over the Turnpike with a new, three-span concrete bridge.  The bridge will be reopened to traffic in the fall of 2015.

Bridge replacements are early-action projects needed to accommodate the total reconstruction of the Turnpike from milepost 40 to 48. Four bridges (Middle Road, two Gibsonia Road bridges and Rich Hill Road) have been replaced and opened to traffic since work began in early 2013. Over the next three years, one additional bridge in the area will be replaced while the mainline is reconstructed and widened between the Butler Valley Interchange (Exit #39) and Allegheny Valley Interchange (Exit #48).  For more information on this project please visit http://www.mp40-48construction.com
