Winter Weather Triggers Speed Restrictions on Pa. Turnpike
The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PTC) is now operating under a weather emergency. The following restrictions apply to all travelers due to areas of snow, sleet and freezing rain: The PTC and Pennsylvania State Police have implemented a speed-limit restriction of 45 mph from the Blue Mountain Interchange (Exit #201) east to the Delaware River Bridge (Exit #359). The reduced 45 mph speed limit is also in effect on the entire Northeastern Extension (I-476) from the Mid County Interchange (Exit #20) to the Clarks Summit Interchange (Exit #131).

All travelers are urged to reduce their speeds and keep alert for changing travel conditions and emergency crews working on the roadway. Do not attempt to pass trucks plowing or servicing the highway. All abandoned vehicles are being removed from the shoulder to allow crews to clear the roadway.

The Turnpike's Traffic Operations Center will continue to monitor the weather across the system. If conditions improve, the restrictions will be lifted at the suitable time.

Turnpike travelers can get up-to-date travel information by calling 866-976-TRIP (8747) or visiting the live Travel Conditions Map online at www.paturnpike.com/webmap. The Turnpike's smartphone app, TRIP Talk, streams audio advisories to iPhone and Android users. To download the free app, visit www.paturnpike.com/triptalk.
