Pa. Turnpike Bridge Project to Impact Traffic on State Routes 6 & 11 at Clarks Summit

Daytime traffic stoppages to occur next week at Turnpike underpass in South Abington Township

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that construction–related activities associated with the bridge that carries the Northeastern Extension (I-476) across State Routes 6 and 11 will impact traffic entering and exiting the Turnpike system at the Clarks Summit Interchange (Exit #131).

Motorists should be prepared for daytime single-lane traffic restrictions and flagger-controlled stoppages in all directions on State Routes 6 and 11 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Feb. 16 through Feb. 20.

The periodic traffic stoppages, which are needed to protect the traveling public during the removal of the concrete deck from the overhead structure, will be no more than 15 minutes.

Message boards have been activated to alert the motoring public to the traffic restrictions and any possible changes in the construction schedule due to inclement weather. If the work is cancelled it will be rescheduled for the week of Feb. 23-27.

Travel advisories will be posted at www.paturnpike.com and on Highway Advisory Radio (1640 AM). In case of an emergency motorists can dial *11 to receive aid.
