PTC ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO
OVER-DIMENSIONAL (CLASS 9) PERMIT REQUIREMENTS

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC), in coordination with PennDOT and FHWA, will change its requirements for special permits for Over-Dimensional (Class-9) vehicles.

Beginning Feb. 2, 2015, customers operating any vehicle and load that weighs more than 100,000 pounds must obtain an Over-Dimensional (Class-9) permit before entering the PA Turnpike. Customers are advised that a vehicle and load that weighs more than 100,000 pounds cannot legally enter the PA Turnpike without an Over-Dimensional (Class-9) permit issued by the PTC. The PTC will not require customers to obtain an Over-Dimensional (Class-9) permit for a vehicle and load that does not weigh more than 100,000 pounds, provided the vehicle or load meets PTC regulations regarding height, width, length and axle weight.

If you have questions about these changes, call the PTC Customer Assistance Center at 800.331.3414, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST.
