TRAFFIC ADVISORY

March 24, 2014
Pa. Turnpike Bridge Project to Impact Traffic on State Routes 6 & 11 at Clarks Summit

Daytime traffic stoppages to occur next week at Turnpike underpass in South Abington Township.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that construction–related activities associated with the removal and replacement of the concrete deck and structural steel on the bridge that carries the Northeastern Extension (I-476) across State Routes 6 and 11 will impact traffic entering and exiting the Turnpike system at the Clarks Summit Interchange (Exit #131).

Motorists should be prepared for periodic daytime traffic stoppages, of no more than 15 minutes, in all directions on State Routes 6 and 11 in South Abington Township March 25 through March 29 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The contractor is currently installing a work platform on the outside of the overhead structure and it requires the stoppages while multiple support cables are being pulled across the bridge. The contractor anticipates minor impacts to traffic throughout the day; however, for the safety of the motoring public and the workers the stoppages will be necessary. The work is weather permitting and could be delayed or rescheduled.
