Daytime Traffic Stoppages to Impact Travel in Robinson Township, Washington County

Traffic Paces required on U.S. Route 22, I-576, and Old Steubenville Pike for the U.S. Route 22 to I-79 Southern Beltway Project.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission reports that motorists traveling on U.S. Route 22, Turnpike (I-576), and Old Steubenville Pike in Robinson Township, Washington County will experience slow-moving traffic paces and stoppages for controlled blasting operations. The weekday bi-directional traffic restrictions will take place Feb. 17 through April 18 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. conditions permitting.

Turnpike Maintenance personnel and Pennsylvania State Police will stop motorists traveling on U.S. Route 22; eastbound traffic will be stopped at the Bavington Exit and westbound traffic after the PA Route 980 Interchange with Potato Garden Road. Traffic on I-576 will also be stopped at the toll plaza (Exit #6) and traffic on Old Steubenville Pike will be stopped in the vicinity of Robinson Church Road.

Traffic paces and stoppages of up to 15 minutes, are necessary to safely complete blasting operations without jeopardizing worker and motorist safety.

Mosites Construction Company of Pittsburgh, PA, will be blasting the rock embankment to begin work on twin bridges which will carry the Findlay Connector (I-576) at the southern terminus over U.S. Route 22 to connect with the U.S. Route 22 to I-79 Southern Beltway Project. The project which is currently in final design will then proceed 13 miles southeast to an interchange with I-79.
