Winter Weather Causes Speed and Trailer Restrictions on Pa. Turnpike

Accident closes Eastbound Turnpike Between Gettysburg Pike and Harrisburg West interchanges.
The Pa. Turnpike Commission and the Pa. State Police have implemented a reduced speed limit of 45 mph across the entire turnpike system. In addition, there is a tractor trailer ban for all drivers pulling empty trailers and double trailers on the entire turnpike. Tractor trailer drivers are also restricted to the right lane between the  Breezewood (#161) and New Stanton (#75) interchanges in both directions.

Also, due to an earlier fatal accident involving three tractor trailers near milepost 238 eastbound, the Pa. Turnpike is closed eastbound only between Gettysburg Pike (#236) and Harrisburg West (#242) until the accident scene is clear and the State Police finish their investigation. The accident happened around 11 p.m. last night and one driver was killed.
