Speed Limit Restrictions on Pa. Turnpike Lifted

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) and the Pennsylvania State Police lifted the lower speed limit restriction of 45 mph at approximately 6 a.m. today in the area between Donegal Interchange (#91) and the Delaware River Bridge Interchange (#359) as well as the Northeastern Extension from Mid-County Interchange (#20) to Clarks Summit Interchange (#131).

Turnpike maintenance crews and its traffic operations center determined the weather conditions improved enough to lift the restrictions. However, the Turnpike will continue to operate under a winter weather advisory until further notice. All travelers should keep alert for changing travel conditions and emergency crews working on the roadway.

The Turnpike will be providing additional safety patrols due to frigid weather conditions over the next several days. Motorists needing assistance should call *11 from their cell phones.

Turnpike travelers can get up-to-date travel information by calling 866-976-TRIP (8747) or visiting the live Travel Conditions Map online at www.paturnpike.com/webmap. The Turnpike’s smartphone app, TRIP Talk, streams audio advisories to iPhone and Droid users. To download the free app, visit www.paturnpike.com/triptalk.
