Pennsylvania Turnpike to Close October 19 between New Castle and Beaver Valley Exits

Five-hour, overnight closure is necessary for overhead bridge removal.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike alerts motorist that the Turnpike (I-76) will be closed eastbound and westbound between the New Castle Interchange (Exit #10) and Beaver Valley Interchange (Exit #13) starting at 11:59 p.m. Oct. 19 until 5 a.m. Oct. 20.  Exiting traffic will use these approved detours:
 
EASTBOUND TRAFFIC Exiting at New Castle
Go straight off of exit ramp to State Route 351 (1 mile)
State Route 351 East (2 miles)
State Route 18 South (1.5 miles)
Re-enter the Turnpike (I-76) at Beaver Valley Interchange
 
WESTBOUND TRAFFIC Exiting at Beaver Valley
State Route 18 North (.3 miles)
State Route 351 West (3.3 miles)
Toll I-376 East (1 mile)
Re-enter the Turnpike (I-76) at the New Castle Interchange
 
The length of the detour is approximately 4.5 miles.
 
Alternate-route cards will be available to exiting travelers at the interchanges during the closure. Expect higher traffic volumes on the detour roads.
 
Message boards will be placed to inform customers of the closure, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts at station 1640 AM also are being used to inform travelers.
 
The closure is needed while crews remove the overhead bridge that carries Norfolk –Southern railroad traffic over the Turnpike at milepost 12.67 in Homewood Borough, Beaver County with a completion date of fall, 2015. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and other circumstances.
