| The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announces that the new bridge carrying Ford Road over Interstate 95 in Bristol Township, Bucks County will open by 4 p.m. on Sept. 27. The Ford Road Bridge is located less than one mile south of where I-95 crosses the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276). A detour of Ford Road was implemented in July 2012 to replace the existing bridge to accommodate the widening of I-95 south of the Turnpike mainline to the Neshaminy Creek Bridge. Neshaminy Constructors, Inc. of Feasterville was awarded the $5.7 million bridge replacement contract in May 2012. The new bridge will be longer and includes two 12-foot wide travel lanes, two 8-foot shoulders, and a pedestrian sidewalk on the south side. With the reopening of Ford Road to traffic, the PennDOT-owned bridge is the fourth bridge to be replaced as part of the I-95/I-276 Interchange Project. The $9.7 million Bristol-Oxford Valley and Galloway Road Bridges were opened to traffic in November 2011 and the $7.7 million Richlieu Road Bridge was reopened to traffic last month. The four bridge replacement projects total approximately $27.1 million and are funded solely by Turnpike toll dollars.
