Turnpike Motorists Should Expect Eastbound Delays between Ft. Washington and Willow Grove

Emergency roadwork necessitates lane closures
between mileposts 342.8 to 343 eastbound.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling eastbound on the PA Turnpike (I-276) between Ft. Washington (Exit #339) and Willow Grove (Exit #343) to expect significant delays due to emergency roadwork.

New traffic patterns are in place between mileposts 341 -343 to allow crews to apply new pavement markings in the area; line-painting attempted last night was ineffective due to weather conditions. A double-lane pattern is being put into effect eastbound, which means closing the left and center lanes.

The emergency pattern is expected to be lifted by 5 or 6 p.m. today, but residual congestion is likely to take longer to clear. Motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes. Those drivers using the Turnpike should anticipate slow-moving or stopped traffic east of Ft. Washington and obey posted speed limits through the work zone until patterns are lifted.

Travelers can get Turnpike traffic alerts by calling 866-976-TRIP (8747) or visiting the live Travel Conditions Map online at www.paturnpike.com/webmap. The Turnpike’s smartphone app, TRIP Talk, streams audio advisories to iPhone and Droid users. To download the free app, visit www.paturnpike.com/triptalk.
