The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has lifted the travel restrictions it implemented yesterday on more than 350 miles of its mainline. However, the 45 mph speed limit restriction is still in effect on the Northeast Extension from Wilkes Barre (Exit #105) to Clark Summit (Exit #131) due to snow fall. Commercial vehicles are being permitted to travel this area.

The restrictions including trailer bans were lifted around 7:00 a.m. today.

Yesterday morning, heavy snow and freezing rain prompted the commission reduce the speed limit to 45 mph, but conditions in the corridor improved enough overnight to lift the restrictions.

Earlier this morning, Turnpike maintenance crews were still reporting sporadic snow in some parts of Western Pa. The western section of the Turnpike is wet and will continue to be treated as needed. Motorists are urged to use caution and anticipate possible, changing roadway conditions.
