| PA Turnpike Lowers Speed Limit to 45 mph on Northeastern Extension (I-476) Lower speed limit now in place from Mid-County to Clarks Summit. |

| The speed limit on the Northeastern Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-476) from Mid-County (#20) to Clarks Summit (#131) has been reduced to 45 mph due to the winter storm. The 45 mph speed limit restriction is now in place on more than 400 miles of PA Turnpike. In addition, trucks pulling doubles or empty trailers are still banned from traveling the 86-mile stretch of Turnpike from New Stanton (Exit #75) to Breezewood (Exit #161). The ban includes vehicles pulling, campers, utility and horse trailers. Motorists should not travel unless it is necessary. Turnpike motorists will be alerted about any changes in restrictions via Variable Message Signs, Highway Advisory Radio station 1640 AM, and the Turnpike web site, www.paturnpike.com. Tow plows (large plows pulled behind a truck) and plow trains (several plow/salt trucks in a row) continue to operate across the Turnpike; motorists should say far back from these vehicles. Do not attempt to pass any snow plow as road conditions in front are likely unfavorable. Please use caution when traveling.
