| PA Turnpike to Close Local Road in Vicinity of Somerset Interchange Three-month detour needed for Turnpike construction project |

| The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will close a portion of Laurel Crest Rd. in the vicinity of the Somerset Interchange (Exit 110) in Somerset Township, Somerset County starting Monday, July 23 until mid-October 2012. The road will be closed while crews reconstruct this portion of Laurel Crest Rd., and for construction on Lewis Drive and Tollgate Road. This work is part of the modification project at Somerset Interchange and the Five Points Intersection. Signage will be in place directing traffic on the following detours; Laurel Crest westbound traffic (exiting the Turnpike) will be detoured from the Turnpike access road to 601 south (Center Ave.) to West Main Street to Edgewood Ave. to Felgar Rd. which will bring traffic back on to Laurel Crest Rd. Laurel Crest eastbound traffic will take Felgar Rd. to Edgewood Ave. to Patriot Street to 601 north (Center Ave.) to the Turnpike access road for entry to the Turnpike. The $4.5 million modification project will be constructed in seven stages, the first of which began in April 2012 with concrete pavement work in the vicinity of the new signal. Utility relocation work is also occurring through the project area. There will be new drainage, guide rail, curbs and barriers also added to improve roadway conditions and safety. The project is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2013. Gibson-Thomas Engineering Company, Inc. of Latrobe, PA was the designer for the Somerset Interchange Project, Five Points Intersection. New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc. of New Enterprise, PA is the construction contractor and McTish, Kunkel and Associates of Pittsburgh, PA is the construction manager.
