| Ford Road Bridge in Bucks County to Close the Week of July 9 Replacement of the overhead bridge that crosses I-95 requires 15-month detour. |

| The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announces that the bridge carrying Ford Road (State Route 2192) over Interstate-95 in Bristol Township will be closed to traffic on or about July 9. The closure and detour is required because the bridge will be disassembled, removed and replaced to accommodate the reconstruction and widening of I-95, south of the Turnpike mainline to the Neshaminy Creek Bridge. This week, the contractor posted advance warning signs alerting motorists to the start of the detour. The posted detour will direct traffic over Newportville Road (State Route 2027), New Falls Road (State Route 2006); Durham Road (State Route 2049); and Veterans Highway (State Route 413) and will remain in place until the new bridge opens to traffic in fall 2013. Beginning the week of July 9, Ford Road will be detoured between Newportville Road and State Route 413. Motorists will follow these PennDOT-approved alternate routes to travel:
Neshaminy Constructors, Inc. of Feasterville was the lowest bidder and awarded the $5.7 million bridge replacement contract in May. The PennDOT-owned Bridge will be the fourth bridge to be replaced in advance of the Turnpike’s widening of I-276 and I-95 as part of the I-95/I-276 Interchange Connection Project. The new $9.7 million Bristol-Oxford Valley and Galloway Road Bridges were opened to traffic in November 2011. Construction is currently under way on the $7.7 million project to replace the Richlieu Road Bridge expected to be completed by late fall 2013. The four bridge replacement projects total approximately $27.1 million and are funded solely by Turnpike toll dollars. The Ford Road Bridge is located less than one mile south of the location where I-95 crosses the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276). Work on the Ford Road Bridge will not impact the Turnpike mainline (I-276). The state-owned structure crosses I-95 at milepost 40.50 and motorists traveling on the interstate will encounter daytime and nighttime traffic restrictions in the vicinity of the work zone. All construction related work is weather permitting and the contractors schedule is subject to change.
