| Pocono Interchange Southbound Exit-Ramp Widening Project begins this Month I-476 traffic impacts to occur at Pocono Exit #95 in Carbon County. |

| The Pennsylvania Turnpike reports that pre-construction related activities on the Pa Turnpike’s Northeastern Extension (I-476) will begin Monday, June 4 and run through Wednesday, June 6 on the southbound exit ramp to the Pocono Toll Plaza, in Carbon County. At approximately 8 a.m. on the mornings of June 4 and 5, the contractor will be working in the vicinity of the toll plaza installing erosion and sedimentation control devices. The nights of June 5 and 6, the contractor will begin placing advance warning signs and traffic control devices on the Turnpike mainline at milepost A95 and along the southbound exit ramp that carries interchange traffic to I-80 and State Route 940. Pikes Creek Site Contractors of Sweet Valley, was awarded the $1.2 million contract to widen the ramp approaching the toll plaza, as well as adjacent work in the Pocono Maintenance area. The expected date of completion for the work is November. If work on the Turnpike mainline requires the contractor to reduce traffic to a single lane, the patterns will be set during off-peak (nighttime) hours with reduced work-zone speeds of 40 mph. Construction-zone speed limits are enforceable, and fines will be doubled. The Pennsylvania Turnpike urges motorists traveling southbound on I-476 approaching the Pocono exit to be prepared for overnight single-lane traffic restrictions and to obey posted speed limits. In the event of an emergency, the Turnpike will activate its Variable Message Signs and Highway Advisory Radio System (1640 AM) to inform motorists of conditions.
