| Pa. Turnpike to Show Plans for Widening Project between Butler Valley and Allegheny Valley Exits March 29 meeting allows residents to learn more about future reconstruction project |

| PITTSBURGH, PA (03/17/2011)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) has scheduled an Open House Plans Display to update the public on the $200 million reconstruction and widening of the east-west mainline (I-76) between the Butler Valley Interchange (Exit 39) and Allegheny Valley Interchange (Exit 48) in Allegheny County. The Plans Display is scheduled for March 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Great Room of the Hampton Township Community Center, 3101 McCully Road, Allison Park, Pa. Residents will be able to view project plans and see locations of bridge replacements and associated detours. Information on noise analysis and mitigation and maps showing proposed impacts to property owners will be presented Project-team members will be available to discuss the project and right-of-way acquisition process. The project - which will impact Hampton, West Deer, Indiana and Harmar townships - involves the widening of the existing roadway from four lanes with a 10-foot median to six lanes with a 26-foot median. It involves replacing six bridges crossing over the Turnpike and affiliated construction detours on local roadways. The project also includes constructing new storm-water facilities and wetland and stream mitigation. The Turnpike widening is broken into two construction contracts; the bridges crossing over the Turnpike must first be constructed before the Turnpike widening is started.
