Intermittent Daytime Traffic Stoppages Scheduled on Turnpike 43 in Allegheny County Beginning Aug. 24

Stoppages needed to get ready for installation of Express E-ZPass lanes at Jefferson Hills plaza.
PITTSBURGH, PA (08/20/2009)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike advises Turnpike 43 motorists that there will be random, intermittent traffic stoppages for a period of about three-weeks beginning on Aug. 24 near the Jefferson Hills Mainline Toll Plaza in Allegheny County. The stoppages will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and will last a maximum of 30 minutes.

Traffic will be stopped to allow for the erection of sign structures for signage alerting customers of the availability of the new highway-speed, "Express E-ZPass" lanes at the Jefferson Hills Mainline toll facility.

During the project, there will be six monopipe sign structures erected over the travel lanes approaching the mainline plaza in both the north and southbound lanes.

Traffic stoppages will typically last for about 15-minutes but will not exceed 30-minutes in length and will occur randomly between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m, Monday through Thursday beginning on Aug. 24.

To ensure the safety, motorists are urged to use caution when approaching the Jefferson Hills Mainline toll plaza during this time.
