A Portion of Graham Road in Pine Township Will Close for Bridge Replacement

Detour Will Be in Place for Three Years As Crews Work to Widen PA Turnpike
PITTSBURGH, PA (08/20/2009)(readMedia)-- On Monday, Aug. 24 at 7 a.m., a portion of Graham Road between Pearce Mill Road and English Road in Pine Township, Allegheny County, will be closed to allow for the replacement of a PA Turnpike bridge. The closure will be in effect until mid summer, 2012.

A 3-mile, PennDOT-approved, detour via Pearce Mill Road and Bakerstown-Warrendale Road will be in place throughout the closure. Detour signs will be posted, and drivers can anticipate an additional 10 minutes to navigate the detour.

The bridge carrying the PA Turnpike over Graham Road will be removed and replaced with a new steel-beam structure as part of the Turnpike's total reconstruction project between mileposts 31 and 38. Due to the existing vertical clearance and three-stage construction, Graham Road must remain closed while the Turnpike is reconstructed over this structure.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's $113 million, 6.78 mile total-reconstruction and widening project between mileposts 31 and 38 spans Pine, Richland, Marshall and Hampton townships in Allegheny County. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
