KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (08/13/2009)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises local motorists that its construction contractor will begin work to rehabilitate six overhead Turnpike bridges between the Reading Exit (#286) and Lebanon-Lancaster Exit (#266) in Lancaster County next week. The work does not impact Turnpike traffic but involves restrictions and detours for local traffic crossing over the Turnpike starting Aug. 17 at 6 a.m.

The six roads, all located in Clay Township, are (from west to east): West Girl Scout Road, Forest Hill Road, Kleinfeltersville Road (S.R. 1035), Sun Valley Road, Seglock Road and Furnace Hills Pike (S.R. 501). During the week of Aug. 17-23, single-lane patterns will be in put in place on Kleinfeltersville and Seglock Roads and Furnace Hills Pike. Short-term detours, approved by Clay Township, will be put in place on West Girl Scout, Forrest Hill and Sun Valley Roads.

The contractor, Kinsley Construction Inc., is mobilizing equipment to the work sites this week and expects to begin milling and paving once the single-lane patterns and detours are in place. Weather permitting the contractor will pursue an aggressive work schedule from August 17-28 working from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Work includes milling the existing roadway and performing concrete deck repairs. Additional work on the bridges - rehabilitation of the parapets, resurfacing, replacement of the protective fencing, power washing exposed concrete surfaces and application of anti-graffiti coatings - will continue until November.
