KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (08/03/2009)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that rehabilitation work begins this week on six overhead bridges between the Reading Exit (#286) and Lebanon-Lancaster Exit (#266) in Lancaster County.

On Aug. 5, the contractor will begin installing traffic-control signs on the Turnpike and on the roadways that carry traffic over the Turnpike. The six roads are (from west to east): West Girl Scout; Forest Hill; Kleinfeltersville (S.R. 1035); Sun Valley; Seglock and Furnace Hills (S.R. 501) Roads.

The contractor expects minimal impact to local and Turnpike traffic but advises motorists to anticipate occasional single-lane closures in the area between mileposts 272 and 280 inElizabeth and Clay Townships. Message boards will be placed to give advance notice of upcoming construction.

The contractor is permitted to work between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Saturday. Work includes concrete deck repairs, rehabilitation of the parapets, resurfacing, replacement of the protective fencing, power washing exposed concrete surfaces and application of anti-graffiti coatings. All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

Kinsley Construction Inc., York, Pa. was awarded the $1 million contract to rehabilitate the six concrete rigid-frame bridges. The work is scheduled to be completed in November.
