Stoppages Tuesday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike reports that motorists traveling on PA I-476 will be stopped a maximum of 20-minutes between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4.

State Police will stop northbound traffic south of the Lehigh Tunnel (milepost A70.1), southbound traffic north of the Mahoning Valley (Exit #74) Interchange. Motorists entering I-476 at the Interchange from Route 209 will be stopped at the toll plaza.

The stoppages will allow the safe demolition of rock slope adjacent to the Lehigh RiverBridge.

Motorists should stay alert for the stoppage to be conducted once-a-day, Tuesdays and Thursdays at random times between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. until mid-September.

The work is weather sensitive and may be delayed or rescheduled. Travel advisories will be posted on the project website at www.lehighbridge.com and the Highway Advisory Radio (1640 am) will be activated to provide travel updates.

Motorists are urged to stay alert for slow moving traffic and use extra caution when approaching and entering construction zones and obey posted speed limits. Speed limits will be enforced and fines doubled.
