PA Turnpike to Be Closed
Between Butler Valley & Allegheny Valley Exits Early This Sunday Morning

 

PITTSBURGH, PA (02/23/2009; 1414)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) will be closed between Butler Valley (Exit #39) and Allegheny Valley(Exit #48) interchanges beginning just after midnight through 5 a.m. on Sunday March 1 weather permitting.

Eastbound drivers will exit at Butler Valley (Exit #39) and take Pa. Route 8 North to Pa. Route 910 East to Freeport Road and re-enter the Turnpike at AlleghenyValley (Exit #48). Westbound drivers will exit at Allegheny Valley (Exit # 48) and take Freeport Road to Pa. Route 910 West to Pa. Route 8 South and re-enter the Turnpike at Butler Valley (Exit #39).

Expect higher traffic volumes on these roads during the detour.

Information about alternate routes will be available at the Butler Valley and Allegheny Valley Interchanges.

The closure is needed for the erection of the bridge that carries Gulf Lab Road over the Turnpike. This work is part of the ongoing reconstruction of theAllegheny River Bridge and realignment project.

Message boards will inform customers of the closure and Highway Advisory Radio broadcasts also are being used to inform travelers of the situation.

Oakmont Service Plaza will not be affected during the closure.
