TRAFFIC ADVISORY in New Stanton Borough, Westmoreland County |
||
Glenn Fox Road will reopen later today, between 6 and 7 pm, where it crosses over the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76) some 1.3 miles west of the New Stanton interchange. The roadway was closed last March 3 for replacement of the former overhead bridge with a two-span concrete box beam structure. Average daily traffic across the bridge totals about 400 trips. The bridge carrying Glenn Fox Road over the Turnpike is located at Milepost 74.2. Replacement of the Glenn Fox Road overpass was part of a $6.4 million project contracted to J.F. Shea Construction, Inc. of Mount Pleasant. The contract also included removal and replacement of an overhead bridge at Milepost 70.4 carrying Pa. Route 136 (Greensburg Road). Greensburg Road reopened on August 22 where it crosses over I-76. It had been closed since January 28. Both overhead bridges were replaced in preparation for a total reconstruction and widening of the Turnpike (from two to three lanes each direction) between Irwin and New Stanton. |
