TRAFFIC ADVISORY

in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County
NEW BRIDGE CARRYING PA. ROUTE 136 OVER TURNPIKE TO OPEN LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Pa. Route 136 (Greensburg Road) will reopen at approximately 5 pm Friday, Aug. 22 where it crosses over the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76) at Milepost 70.4 between the Irwin and New Stanton interchanges.

The roadway has been closed at the crossover point since January 28 of this year for demolition of the previous steel span and erection of a new concrete box beam structure. The Turnpike Commission replaced the bridge in preparation for a total reconstruction and widening of I-76 between Irwin and New Stanton.

Average daily traffic across the bridge totals approximately 3,900 trips.

Replacement of the Greensburg Road overpass was performed as part of a $6.4 million project contracted to J.F. Shea Construction, Inc. of Mount Pleasant.
