INSTANT E-ZPASS SIGN-UPS TO CONTINUE AT WESTMORELAND MALL |
||
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has scheduled additional opportunities for folks browsing Westmoreland Mall to enroll in its E-ZPass electronic fare collection program at a kiosk now stationed on the first level of the facility in Center Court. Westmoreland Mall is located off U.S. Route 30 east of Greensburg. Sign-up teams will be staffing the kiosk from 10 am to 4 pm Friday, Aug. 8; Saturday, Aug. 9; Wednesday through Saturday, Aug. 13 through 16; Wednesday through Saturday, Aug. 20 through 23; and Wednesday through Saturday, Aug. 27 through 30. Persons stopping by to open an E-ZPass account should have their driver's license, vehicle registration card and a major credit card. Although the kiosk will not be staffed on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, information on E-ZPass will be available there to passers-by free of charge. Those who enroll in the program will receive an E-ZPass "tag" they can use immediately in any fare collection lane, in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, where the purple E-ZPass logo is displayed. The tag is a small transponder mounted on the windshield that sends a signal to an overhead reader in the fare collection lane. The devices interact to classify vehicles and deduct appropriate fares from pre-paid accounts while drivers keep moving. It costs as little as $38 to open an account, with $35 of that being a prepaid balance that does not expire. It's easiest to pay by credit card or debit card and authorize automatic replenishment when your pre-paid balance drops below $10. Transponders can be moved between vehicles. Customers can view transactions and print monthly statements from the Turnpike's Web site. All personal account information is confidential. Pennsylvania's E-ZPass program functions seamlessly with designated fare collection lanes on most Northeastern and Atlantic Seaboard toll roads and a growing consortium of toll roads extending as far west as Illinois. |
