Philadelphia, PA (June 29, 2007) – The Pennsylvania Turnpike announced today that the South Neshaminy Service Plaza located eastbound in Bensalem Township, Bucks County (milepost 352), will be permanently closed on Saturday night, June 30, 2007 in order to accommodate the Turnpike’s upcoming construction projects that include an E-ZPass Only slip ramp in Bensalem. The plaza, built in the mid-1950s, served the motoring public for many years with restaurants like McDonalds, Breyer’s Ice Cream, Hot Dog City, and Tasty Kake. Like all of the Turnpike’s service plazas, it was a multi-concept plaza where Turnpike customers could take a break 24-hours a day.  

Motorists traveling eastbound to the Delaware River Bridge should be aware that the Valley Forge Service Plaza, located at milepost 324, will now be the last service plaza available before reaching the end of the eastbound PA Turnpike! Please be aware that the South Neshaminy Service Plaza’s access ramps will be closed to the public at midnight on June 30, 2007.

The PA Turnpike’s westbound North Neshaminy Service Plaza (milepost 351) is tentatively slated to be demolished within the next three to four years, to make room for construction of the I-95 interchange.
